Rahul Gandhi continues his march, govt hardens its stance


  • Rahul Gandhi who had arrived suddenly in Bhatta Parsaul on Tuesday to start his mass contact program proceeded towards Aligarh on Wednesday morning
  • He resumed his "kisan padyatra" on Wednesday morning and arriving at Shabota village in Guatam Buddh nagar district he said that Chief Minister Mayawati had failed to implement the new land policy in spirit and many farmers have been denied their rights
  • The Home Secretary Deepak Kumar said that Rahul Gandhi's arrest would depend on how the situation evolves and if the local district administration deems fit
  • He said that it was for the Aligarh District Magistrate to decide whether the situation warranted the arrest of Rahul Gandhi for flouting the prohibitory Section 144 orders
  • After walking about 25 kilometers Rahul Gandhi had spent the night at Rampur Bangar village on Tuesday night
